Why We Give

31 Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31-32 (New Living Translation)

We are so grateful for all that God has provided us.  As Christ-followers, we believe that the giving of our time and talent is essential in the spreading of God's Word and the sharing of His compassion with others.  Our mission statement reads, "called to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ boldly, and joyfully fellowship with and serve others."  Therefore, we believe we must also joyfully give...perhaps cheerfully (referencing 2 Corinthians 9:6-7) in recognition of all that God has done for us.  We believe that the investment in ministry is much like the mustard seed - an investment we pray will grow and flourish to benefit many others.

TOL regularly supports the following ministries:  The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's (ELCA) World Hunger and Disaster Relief, ELCA's God's Global Barnyard, Western New York Lutheran Charities, the International Institute of Buffalo, Lutheran World Relief Refugee's Aid, Hearts and Hands and to Veterans One-Stop Center of WNY.  Our congregation invests heavily in our own Respite Care Program and other seasonal ministries and missions.
